There are always exceptions, such as the Groninger Museum and the gallery of honor in the Rijksmuseum,
but white exhibition walls are often the standard in a gallery or museum.

What is the influence of these colored walls on the works of art and why do we always go back to white?

In the exhibition ’Caught in colours', a number of artists investigate investigate the influence of colored walls on works of art.
By hanging the exhibited works on differently coloured walls the visitor experiences
how the coloured wall and the artwork interact.
