2017 "On the Waterline" - an art project of artists and maritime engineers. On going.

In the past we have shaped rivers, lakes and seas to our own benefit with ingenuity and advanced technology.
On the border of water and land we have shaped cultures that flourished and disappeared again.

However, the power of water still limits our capabilities to shape the world to our own ideas. The water still
decides how we can live on the land.

" On the Waterline" is a project where artists and maritime engineers redefine the way in which we will interact with
water in the future. During 8 weeks they build a work of art in the center of Rotterdam.

When the work is finished it is handed over to the river during a ceremony. Hundreds of people work together
to move the work of art into the river. From where it will float to the sea in the days ahead.
